It's a chance to check out all those restaurants you've been wanting to try... all in one place. And it's a preview of one of the biggest restaurant events in the city. To kick off Chicago Restaurant Week which takes place February 17th to the 26th, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau is holding the inaugaural "FIrst BItes" bash February 2nd from 6 to 9 pm. It's a chance to get an advance taste of the food from 50 restaurants which will be featured during restaurant week. Chef Stephanie Izard - season four winner of "Top Chef" - will host the elegant event in the Great Hall at Union Station. Many of the restaurants - like Izard's own "Girl and the Goat" - feature local food. You also get to create your own pairings with Moet Hennesy wines, Beevedere Cocktails and Blue Moon Beers. Groupon is sponsoring a dessert lounge, too. TIckets are 125 dollars a piece. What's makes the event even more delicious: 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Chicago Food Depository. It takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. For more info, go to www.firstbites.bash,com
